New HNI Showrooms—Gunlocke

For over 100 years, Gunlocke has designed and crafted furniture of character.

Evolving from a chair company in Wayland, New York into an industry leading furniture manufacturer, we infuse our products with knowledge about work and the workplace and deliver those products with exceptional excellence in both quality and dependability.

Gunlocke is proud to announce the opening of two new showrooms — New York City and Washington D.C. locations. Each space demonstrates active planning methodologies and wellness principles that are a key component for effective and efficient spaces. Gunlocke product creates workplaces of distinction and refinement for today’s leading companies.

Though not officially WELL certified, the Gunlocke design team considered the WELL design principles in both new spaces. Biophilic elements, natural upholsteries, and ample access to natural light are seen throughout each of the spaces demonstrating to clients how WELL design promotes higher-performing organizations and their users’ wellbeing.

Location: 257 Park Avenue South 14th Floor

The New York showroom embodies today’s work by being mindful of the flow of people and ideas through physical space. With rich tones and a strong sense of character in each application, space exemplifies Gunlocke’s ability to support clients’ ever-increasing need to reflect their culture, workforce connectivity, and the cultivation of creativity in the built environment.

Exceptional planning allows spaces like the café area and huddle area to function as two separate spaces or as one collective space, depending on the size of the group. Many of the applications shown in the open plan have also been developed to suit an enclosed space. Each configuration is in response to the rising cost of real estate and the need to maximize available square footage. New products like Calm, and the expansion to SlieaEH, support more huddle room spaces which promote movement throughout the day and increase interaction with the community.

Gunlocke | Washington, DC

Location: 1725 Eye Street NW, Suite 250
Washington, DC 20006
Design Partner: T. Clifton Design
SQFT: 5,249

As a brand that evokes feelings of grounding and security, the DC showroom was designed to reflect the sophisticated “suit-and-tie” sensibility of our nation’s capital with a touch of inspiration from natural elements. Features, like a wood wall, encourage visitors to think about “natural” wood in new ways. Stone floors with gray veining adjacent to the wood accent walls act as a natural backdrop for the innovative new product offerings, such as SileaEH, from Gunlocke.

In response to showroom and client needs for knowledge sharing and collaboration, technology is integrated throughout the space: be it in a modular, lounge welcome area or enclosed meeting spaces. Architectural elements, such as ceiling planes and Allsteel architectural walls, create a delineation of distinct spaces while considering the inherent flow of everyday users.

Deeply rooted and solid as a forest, rich textures and blue/green pops of color celebrate the Gunlocke tradition—a commitment to knowledge and innovation built upon a foundation of skill and craftsmanship.
